Getting ready for P1 in September 2022?

Apply for Primary 1 place for your Child for September 2021 online at the link below, which will be live from Monday 10 January 2022  at midday.

Before you submit your application it is important that you read the admissions criteria of the schools you are interested in sending your child to.


1. Children who  are resident in Northern Ireland at the time of the proposed admission.

2. Children who  have a brother/sister, half-brother/sister or foster brother/sister  presently enrolled at the school.

4. Children who  are the first child in the family.

5.  Children closest to the school as measured by car along a public road from the child’s home to the main school gate

Once your place has been confirmed, what happens next?

After applying and being accepted to Castleroe PS, parents and pupils due to start P1 in September are invited to an open morning in June where Mrs  Williams and the P1 teacher, Mrs Wilson, will talk to the you about starting school in September, providing you with important information and also how to make the transition from a pre-school setting to primary school as easy as possible for the children.

During this information session the children have the opportunity to spend time in the P1 classroom with present P1 pupils and become familiar with their surroundings. Primary 1 pupils are quickly settled into the school day in September. Their school day for the first two weeks  is from 9am- 1.00pm and from week three the pupils stay until 2pm.

Any concerns or worries will be dealt with promptly by the Principal and the class teacher, please do not hesitate in contacting us about anything that arises.
